The mission of Dancenow Productions, Inc. is to support the creation and development of dynamic, finely crafted and engaging public performances; and to empower communities through partnerships, workshops, residencies and arts-based education. Recent Premier: Haunted - May 31 & June 1, 2008 at Dance Place. Laura Schandelmeier and Stephen Clapp in their fourth evening-length work, Haunted. Performed to an original score and live music by Chloe and Leah Smith of Rising Appalachia and percussionist/performer Kofi Dennis, Haunted draws from acts of possession, ghost stories, and rituals to create an enthralling motion narrative. Created in conjunction with Haunted/The Open Door Project. "Laura Schandelmeier's themes range from the fantastically bizarre to the overtly political. Feminist manifestos and memory plays, ruminations cheerful and violent, elegant and odd...teamed with Stephen Clapp, a Washington-based dancer of preternatural grace and a strong sense of social responsibility...their work will blossom." (Lisa Traiger, The Washington Post)
